We are passionate about many things that you will find within these pages:
1. Classic movies of the 30s, 40s, 50s.
2. Icons of the Silver Screen, including Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Susan Hayward, Rita Hayworth, Barbara Stanwyck, Lauren Bacall, Katherine Hepburn, Shelley (aka Shirley) Winters, Cary Grant & Humphrey Bogart to name but a few.
3. International travel to stunning locations. Some recent trips we have done include sector cruises on both the Queen Mary 2 and the Queen Victoria. We have placed our feet where Centurions walked when we visited Italy. We have been to Dubai and Egypt, cruised the South Pacific, driven across the Canadian Rockies and cruised the Alaskan Inside Passage. We are currently planning trips as far ahead as 2012. New photo galleries will be added regularly within this website following our excursions abroad.
4. Luxury cruising - destination anywhere.
5. Classical music, opera and live theatre.
6. Good food, fine wine, and wonderful friends to share it with.
7. Creative writing - poetry, short stories and travel writing.

Italian Style - David dressed for a night on the town in Venezia
The Gruntbuttocks Experiment is our first attempt at creating and maintaining a web site. It often takes much grunting and groaning and some considerable effort to get off your butt and do the things you want. The Gruntbuttocks Experiment is our homage to one of those things - finally having our own web site.
The name of our site, "no wire hangers", comes from a classic line in Mommie Dearest. This is the movie of Joan Crawford's life, starring Faye Dunaway. In it, a maniacal and hysterical Joan, ranting and practically frothing at the mouth, screams at her daughter Christina, "NO WIRE HANGERS!!" This is in response to finding Tina has hung her lovely dresses on ordinary wire hangers. A hanging offence (no pun intended) in the Crawford household - and evidence that the little things in life always create the biggest dramas. So with that in mind, we sagely quote the words of Margot Channing (played by Bette Davis in "All About Eve") and advise you to ...
"fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night!"
